What do the Validated and Bootable badges mean?

They answer two different questions: is the stored data intact, and can the recovery point start.

The Short Answer

Validated / Pending / Retrying / Failed / Quarantined
AsureDense checksum validation states. They tell you whether the stored backup data is verified intact. Quarantined means a failed recovery point has been isolated so it is not used for recovery or as the base of further backups.
Bootable
Comes from boot evidence: the recovery point was attached to an isolated VM and started, with a screenshot captured as evidence.

Use both

Checksum validation proves the stored data is intact. Boot and mount evidence show the recovery point can be attached, read, and started. Neither replaces application acceptance testing.
