Customer Story — Quadris

Under 30 days to decide. 14 days to exit VMware.

Quadris, the customer and the operating path

About Quadris

Quadris is an engineering-led technology integration partner and the operator of Quadris Cloud, a UK-supported platform for virtual machine workloads.

Quadris used Sendense to move and protect the customer’s production estate, bringing cross-platform migration, backup and recovery into one operating path.

Deadline to destination

The constraint and the controlled transition

The challenge

A commercial deadline became an infrastructure deadline

The customer had fewer than 30 days to enter a minimum three-year VMware renewal or complete its move away from the platform.

A conventional migration programme measured in months was not an option. The organisation needed a credible destination, a partner able to move quickly and protection ready at cutover.

  • Establish a credible production destination.
  • Move the complete estate inside the available window.
  • Keep backup and recovery in place through and after cutover.

The solution

One operating path from VMware to protected cloud

Quadris selected its Apache CloudStack-based Quadris Cloud platform as the production destination, without forcing the customer to redesign its applications around a hyperscale cloud model.

Quadris installed a Sendense Node Appliance in the source VMware environment and began replication into Quadris Cloud in under an hour.

Migration, destination infrastructure and data protection were delivered as one coordinated process rather than three separate projects.

Four-stage transition

One operating path from source to protected destination

  1. 01

    Deploy

Enrol Sendense in the source VMware environment.

  2. 02

    Replicate

Begin moving workloads into Quadris Cloud in under an hour.

  3. 03

    Transition

Sequence dependencies and complete a controlled production cutover.

  4. 04

    Protect

Continue backup and recovery through the same platform after cutover.

Results and customer voices

The complete estate moved inside the licensing window

Quadris completed the migration in 14 days, avoiding the proposed minimum three-year renewal and establishing production workloads on Quadris Cloud.

Protection continued without becoming a separate post-migration project. Quadris now provides ongoing Backup as a Service through the same Sendense platform.

  • Complete VMware estate migrated in 14 days.
  • Proposed minimum three-year renewal avoided.
  • Ongoing Backup as a Service delivered by Quadris.

Sendense gave us a single platform for moving VMware workloads into Quadris Cloud and protecting them once they arrived. The customer had weeks rather than months, and we completed the entire estate migration in 14 days. We now provide the customer with ongoing Backup as a Service through the same platform.

Follow-on and commercial value

From one urgent migration to a wider opportunity

The successful project created confidence in the wider customer group, and Quadris was asked to explore moving additional—and significantly larger—VMware estates to Quadris Cloud.

It established a repeatable model for moving, operating and protecting production VMware workloads on alternative cloud infrastructure.

The migration created continuing value

The customer became an ongoing consumer of Quadris Cloud and managed backup services, while Quadris retained the cloud relationship and continuing service responsibility.

For cloud providers and MSPs, the same model can turn VMware migration projects into continuing backup and disaster-recovery relationships rather than one-off transactions.

A short decision window does not have to become an uncontrolled migration. Talk to Sendense about your estate, destination options and the protection required before, during and after cutover.

Sendense supports technical migration planning; customers remain responsible for licensing decisions. Project scope and timelines vary.
